Refugees in a Time of Pandemic: Protection and Mental Health-Related Implications

Dear MSYD Family,
We hope you and your immediate surroundings are good in this challenging process and we hope to reach much better and healthy days both as a country and globally as soon as possible. As soon as COVID-19 pandemic outbreak process begins, we would like to thank everyone for your dedication, and conformity with flexible working hours. As MSYD, immediately aftermaths the first case is detected in our country, we have paid close attention to the calls made by our statesmen, with great sensitivity for the health of our valued teammates and the people we serve, and we have minimized the social contact by switching to teleworking modality. By moving to new teleworking implementation model, ignoring the notions of working hours and weekends, we are ranging up our efforts and working heartily to ensure that both citizens and refugees have expeditiously access to accurate and verified information.
With the onset and rapid spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have drawn the primary focus of our current programs to preventive services regarding fight against COVID-19 pandemic; within this direction, instantly, we are instantly posting and publishing the news and updates in three different languages (Turkish, Arabic and Persian) through our COVID-19 webpage (https://covid19.msyd.org/) for both citizens and refugees, to ensure their timely and fast access to scientific, accurate and verified information; we have intensified our efforts to identify and address needs with corporate telephones and digital tools; we organize individual mental health and psychological support for the beneficiaries whose anxiety and stress levels increase or at risk of increase, and awareness sessions on mental health; we have made programmatic adjustment on the special needs fund for the completion of health needs. We are serving the intended beneficiaries in three languages with our Call Center, carrying out pandemic prevention sessions, offering personalized exercise programs provided with our physiotherapists. We would like to thank our esteemed program team that has accomplished all these and our support team, who have demonstrated extraordinary effort by mobilizing quickly during the realization of these processes.
Apart from all these, as MSYD, we invite everyone to to do their part to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic, whenever possible and we try to eliminate the problems in this process to some extent;
We would like to thank you once again for the atmosphere of solidarity and unity built by our struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic, and for all your efforts.
